What is AES-256?

AES-256 is a widely studied symmetric encryption standard. MYKEYNEST uses authenticated AES-256-GCM to encrypt stored passwords and detect tampering.

Why 256 bits?

A 256-bit key has 2256 possible combinations. Even a supercomputer would take far longer than the age of the universe to brute-force it.
